Pour ses 15 ans, le Centre Pompidou-Metz investit tous ses espaces avec des centaines d'œuvres de la collection du Centre Pompidou, en dialogue avec celles de l'artiste Maurizio Cattelan.
À l’occasion de ses 15 ans, le Centre Pompidou-Metz investit tous ses espaces – la Grande Nef, la Galerie 1, les toits des galeries et jusqu’aux recoins de son architecture – avec des centaines d'œuvres de la collection du Centre Pompidou, Musée national d'art moderne, dont le bâtiment fait l'objet d'une métamorphose pendant quelques années.
Cette exposition présente des œuvres rarement exposées et des pièces dont on ne soupçonnerait pas la présence dans la collection, en dialogue avec les œuvres de l'artiste international Maurizio Cattelan. Suivant les 27 entrées d’un abécédaire, elle met à l’honneur les mouvements de l’histoire de l’art dans leur pluralité et aborde la notion de « dimanche » soulevant des questions sociales, politiques et esthétiques. Y sont présentés en majesté l'extraordinaire mur de l’atelier d’André Breton ainsi que la table de jeu d'échecs de Marcel Duchamp qui a récemment rejoint la collection du Musée national d’art moderne.
